Honorable Mayor and City Council Members,
I am writing to express full support for the establishment of a conservation easement for the Watson Woods Riparian Preserve.
In 2024, the Prescott City Council will have the opportunity to approve the establishment of a conservation easement for Watson Woods Riparian Preserve. This builds on a 3-decade long, successful partnership between the City and Prescott Creeks. I value this area and look forward to the Council approving this request to protect the Preserve in perpetuity. It increases access to millions of dollars in government funding (grants and contracts) which is crucial to long-term rehabilitation, protection, and management of the Preserve–a habitat that supports healthy watersheds, outdoor recreation and education, volunteer opportunities and the return of native plants and animals. Not only is it the right thing to do, but it is also consistent with multiple City of Prescott and regional planning documents.
Thank you in advance for placing a conservation easement on Watson Woods Riparian Preserve and for everything the City is doing to protect the environment for future generations.
