Volunteer Opportunity! Invasive Weed Eradication

Prescott Creeks and the Yavapai Weed Management Area are hosting a volunteer event out at Watson Woods that will involve hand-pulling /digging invasive weeds within a portion of the Preserve.   All are invited to attend.  Specifically, we will focus our efforts on Spotted Knapweed and Scotch Thistle, which are common invasive species to the Prescott area.  Previous experience with and/or knowledge of these plants is not necessary, as we will conduct a brief training session prior to the field work.

When:  Wednesday, April 11, 2012, 9am – 12pm

Where: Watson Woods West Service Entrance @ Hwy 89 and Rosser St.

Additional Details:

Gloves, tools, and light refreshments will be provided.  Long sleeves, sunscreen, and good shoes/boots are recommended.  The work involved will consist of hand-pulling and digging plants in a forested/wild setting. Plants will be bagged and removed from the Preserve.  Volunteers will be divided into smaller groups, each with a group leader from Prescott Creeks or the YWMA.

If you are interested in attending this event or would like additional information, please contact Gregg or Ann-Marie at 928-445-5669.
