Prescott’s Great Outdoors – Outdoor Recreation Festival and Expo Watson Woods: The Oasis of Prescott

Prescott Creeks will be leading a hiking tour of Watson Woods Riparian Preserve on Sunday, October 7, as part of the Prescott Outdoor Recreation Festival and Expo.  We will start at 9am, meeting at the Watson Lake South Boat Launch.

Led by Gregg Fell, Field Projects Coordinator for Prescott Creeks, participants will be guided through a newly constructed trail that winds through the unique wetland and riparian habitat of Watson Woods. We will visit wetlands, stream restoration projects, mature cottonwood and willow forest, and will discuss broader topics such as watershed health and awareness.  Hawks, waterfowl, and songbirds are likely companions for the hike, so bring your binoculars!

The total hiking distance is about 2 miles with a total time of 2 hours.  Participants are advised to bring water, wear appropriate footwear/clothing, and be prepared to hike over uneven, wild terrain.
