The course runs from January 16 to May 4, 2015; it meets Fridays from 9 to 12.
This 2-credit class—consisting of lectures, lab activities and local field trips on Friday mornings—is intended to provide the interested layman and college student with a sound introduction to many aspects of surface and groundwater occurrence, use, and other topics crucial to the management and sustainability of water resources. Special emphasis will be applied to water in the Southwest and the Prescott area, in particular.
The course introduces the water environment through detailed study of the hydrologic cycle and water budget components; the occurrence and movement of surface waters and aquifers; water quality characteristics and pollution sources; water monitoring techniques; basic hydrologic analysis methods; water management and protection regulations; and water uses and conservation practices.
