Thanks to Yavapai County Supervisor (and previous Prescott Mayor) Harry Oberg’s nomination, the annual Granite Creek Cleanup event will be recognized as a Copper Level Member of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality’s (ADEQ) Voluntary Environmental Stewardship Program. The Program (VESP) recognizes and awards incentives to Arizona businesses and other organizations that have a good history of environmental compliance and strive to go beyond what is legally required to protect public health and the environment. Participants in the program can access tools and strategies that support their existing environmental programs and find opportunities to further reduce costs and spur innovation.

At the Tuesday, 13 September 2022 City Council Voting meeting, Morgan O’Connor, ADEQ Community Liaison for Coconino, Mohave & Yavapai Counties, will present a certificate to Prescott Creeks, the City of Prescott, and Yavapai County for cleaning up a total of 51.7 tons of trash to protect and enhance public health and the environment with 7,045 community volunteers working together to achieve a common goal with the Granite Creek Cleanup event between the years 2007 and 2022.

Prescott Creeks Executive Director Michael Byrd will be present to accept the certificate and express appreciation for the many people who have been involved over the years.
